Legal Challenge to PPACA Continues

Last week, the highest profile legal challenge to PPACA, the lawsuit being brought by 26 states and the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), moved a little bit closer to the Supreme Court. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in the case and reports from the courtroom indicated that the questioning was very tough for both sides, but the judges seemed to be a little more skeptical of the federal government’s arguments.

Premiums Reduced for PCIP

The government is attempting a shot in the arm to the federal Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan in hopes to bolster enrollment. The plan was first offered last summer and only has 18,000 people enrolled. CBO estimates have the plan adding 200,000 people each year! Is anyone starting to get a little concerned about the federal government’s strategy to correct the healthcare system?
