David Widmer
David Widmer, PAHM, RHU
David is recognized with the designation of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) by The American College and is recognized as Professional, Academy of Healthcare Management (PAHM). David is a member in good standing with the Middle Tennessee Chapter, National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), which views the RHU designation as the highest form of recognition in the health insurance industry, demonstrating David’s commitment to educational leadership within the insurance profession. David is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Nashville Chapter, Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP), Vice Chair on the board of directors for The Green Hills Action Partners (TGHAP) , a member of Nashville Chamber of Commerce, and currently holds Grounds/Exterior position with the Julia Green Elementary School PTO. David spent much of his time in school studying photography in pursuit of a career in commercial art. During this time he realized business savvy could not be replaced by artistic creativity and passion. In 1995 David chose to enter the business world working with employers to help their employees understand and select various employee benefits plans. His insurance career was launched with Colonial Life, working with small and large employers, employees, insurance carriers, brokers, sales reps and enrollment specialists. He also has three years experience managing large (2,000+ employees) multi-state accounts. In 2002, David and his wife, Brooke, developed their own voluntary benefit sales and enrollment organization in Nashville. They merged with a similar organization after a year and a half to become a top producing voluntary benefits brokerage agency in the south east region. This led to David achieving national recognition as a top-performing career representative. Throughout his tenure with Colonial, David qualified for National Leadership Conferences and received several honors for sales achievement and business development. 17 years into his career, he is a successful business owner of Benefit Brokers, LLC, a "best in class" employee benefits firm serving small to mid-size employers. David co-founded Benefit Brokers after a very successful tenure with another firm developing new business that lead to leadership, management and ownership. He works diligently with employers to help them effectively select and implement the best strategies using high quality and value for both group and voluntary employee benefits. David recognizes that employers make a significant investment in benefits and he strives to promote strategies that help employees understand and appreciate the investment employers make to provide quality benefits and choices. Outside of work, David enjoys family activities, physical fitness, golf, photography, personal development and community involvement. David and his wife moved to Nashville in 1999. They are the proud parents of two beautiful girls and spend as much family time together as possible. They have a wonderful twelve year old Chocolate Lab who is truly part of the family. The Widmers also enjoy their spiritual journey and serving others through active involvement as members of Cross Point Church. One of David's driving motivations is to continue developing opportunities to contribute to our community being the best place to live, work and play.
